September 10th: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 5/1

With Europe s elite turning their attention back to domestic duties this weekend, we have another stacked schedule on our hands. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye on.

Saturday September 10th
BST 15:00 Sheffield United vs Rotherham

While Sheffield United might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, the Blades have shown no signs of a hangover since opening the 2022/23 campaign. In the midst of what has become a Championship purple patch, Paul Heckingbottom s men have a Premier League return at the top of their agenda this time around. Last seen putting in another impressive display as they picked up a 2-0 victory away at Hull, Saturday s hosts open this weekend s fixtures holding a one-point buffer over the chasing pack. Unbeaten in each of their last six second-tier outings, Sheffield United have also continued to shine with their displays in the final third. With their stellar run of form highlighted by a 4-0 romp against Reading on August 30th, Heckingbottom will be calling on the red-hot Ollie Mcburnie to spearhead their charge here. While the ex-Swansea striker might have initially struggled following his move to Bramall Lane, the 26-year-old has now found the net in his last three straight Championship appearances. On the flip side, while Rotherham might have been last seen snatching a 1-1 draw at home against Watford, Saturday s guests have largely struggled with their consistency since making their second-tier return. Including a thumping 3-0 loss away at Sunderland when signing off August, it should be noted that the Millers have recorded just a single victory in their last six domestic contests. Suffering a 2-0 loss in their last trip to Bramall Lane, we re backing a similar outcome here.

Tip: Sheffield United win Under 4.5 goals @ 4/5

15:00 Watford vs Reading

Although Reading might have only just clung to their Championship status back in May, the Royals have enjoyed a remarkable summer transformation. Managing to make an immediate return to winning ways last weekend, Paul Ince s side find themselves battling it out at the top of the table. Last seen picking up a 2-1 victory at home against Stoke, the one-time Wolves boss should find the mood in his camp at a real high. In fact, on a run that is underlined by a stellar 3-0 romp at home against Blackburn on August 17th, Saturday s guests have collected four points from their last five Championship contests. Sat just a single point adift of breaking into the automatic promotion spots, Ince s men should be smelling the chance to spring another upset here. With attacking talisman Lucas Joao bagging both strikes against Stoke last weekend, they should be looking to cash in on a Watford side that are showing some extended issues. Last seen having to settle for a 1-1 draw away at second-tier returners Rotherham, the Hornets have struggled to find their feet since losing their Premier League status. Crashing out of the EFL Cup on August 23rd after a shock 2-0 loss at home against League One outfit MK Dons, Saturday s hosts have now managed to win just one of their last six matchups across all formats. Given the recent gulf in class, an away double chance can be found at appealing odds here.

Tip: Reading to score over 0.5 goals @ 8/11

15:00 Wrexham vs Maidenhead

While Wrexham might have missed out on the chance to make their Football League return last season, Wrexham find themselves tipped as a landslide pick this time around. Last seen laying down another marker as they cruised their way to a 5-0 romp away at Dorking, the Dragons appear to be riding a real wave. Bouncing back from their 2-0 loss away at Chesterfield on August 16th, Phil Parkinson s men have managed to prove that was just a minor blip. Now winning each of their last four National League outings, the former Bolton boss has also seen his side gain a fearsome reputation for their free-scoring displays. Including another 5-0 victory when they welcomed Maidstone to the Racecourse Ground last month, Saturday s hosts have now bagged 16 goals on their four-match winning run. Hoping to find a route to the top of the table this weekend, it is well worth keeping an eye out for red-hot Ollie Palmer here. Bagging a brace away at Dorking last time out, the 30-year-old has notched four strikes in his last three National League appearances. On the flip side, while Maidenhead might have managed to snatch a 1-1 draw at home against Halifax last weekend, it doesn t cover what has been an extended blip. Battling it out at the foot of the table, the Berkshire-based outfit have collected just a single point from their last four fifth-tier matchups.

Tip: Ollie Palmer to score anytime @ 21/20
